Dear Credo Community and Supporters,
RE: NEW CAMPUS
We are standing together on the threshold of a dream—relocating this March to what has been very thoughtfully planned to be the model sustainable community in North America. It has been our intention to locate in SOMO Village since 2008, and our imminent move realizes Credo’s mission to teach and model environmental, social, agricultural, economic and personal sustainability within a supportive larger community.
YOUR SUPPORT IS CRUCIAL!
Our SOMO landlord, committed to having Credo at the center of SOMO Village, has worked cooperatively with us to provide below market rent and offer numerous amenities, such as garden and farm space, sports fields and event center use, and has pledged $1M towards the estimated $2.5M needed to convert the space into our vibrant new home.
YOUR DONATION IS VITAL!
Please join us now in making a significant gift in support of Credo’s new home. Your support benefits not only current Credo students, but also an ongoing stream of youth who will be exceptionally prepared to effect positive change in our world. The time is now, the need is urgent, and our school is on track to make a significant difference. We need your help.
Please donate on line by clicking the "Donate" button to your right, or send your tax-deductible donations to:
Credo High 1300 Valley House Drive, Suite 100 Rohnert Park, CA 94928
In the memo line please write “New Campus Campaign”
We can accept gifts of stock as well as cash, and Credo can receive gifts of appreciated stock without any capital gain—you get a tax benefit aligned with the current value and, as a nonprofit, Credo can sell the stock at current market value without incurring any tax.
Please invite your student’s grandparents, godparents, neighbors and friends to join you with a gift in support of a more peaceful, loving sustainable future. To discuss a particular donation, please contact Credo board member Kelly Hennessy: firstname.lastname@example.org or 707-536-6214.
Can you introduce us to a prospective major donor? A rich aunt, wealthy employer or friend who benefitted from a lucrative IPO? If so, please contact Chip Romer: email@example.com or 707-664-0600 x 1.
For banking or credit card questions, please contact Awakening Entelechy administrator Kelly Gast: firstname.lastname@example.org.

THE CAMPUS: We are converting 35,000 square feet of existing space in SOMO Building 1300 into our new school, in two phases. We moved into Phase 1, including 10 large and 6 smaller classrooms, in March 2017. Construction on Phase 2 will occur in Summer of 2017 to open up the entire space into 20 larger classrooms, as well as offices, performance spaces, community space, faculty room and meeting rooms. A new entrance, multiple exits, skylights and seismic reinforcements will allow Credo to grow our enrollment beyond the current 250 students to a projected full enrollment of 625.
MORE ABOUT SOMO VILLAGE: In 2008, as our Credo Development Team was just forming, we learned of a new planned community being developed on a 175-acre former Agilent Technologies campus in Rohnert Park. The new owners of the property, SOMO Village, LLC, led by visionary manger Brad Baker, are partnering with the international nonprofit, One Planet Communities, to develop a model 1900-home community that will demonstrate how to limit resource consumption to a sustainable level. This will be the premier sustainable development in North America. Among the partners is the San Francisco Zen Center, which is building a 250-unit retirement community, complete with Greens Restaurant.
MORE ABOUT ONE PLANET: Born out of a World Wildlife Fund study that showed the U.S. is currently consuming 5.5 planet’s worth of resources, One Planet has designed a very specific plan of ten sustainability standards that, if observed, would vastly limit the depletion of our planet’s resources. Led by visionary English environmentalist Pooran Desai, who in 2009 won the prestigious Skoll Foundation Award for Social Entrepreneurship, One Planet offers a comprehensive plan for us to live happily and comfortably within our means—and to show the rest of the world how to do so. Mr. Desai now serves on our Credo Advisory Board and is a huge champion of Credo and of our mission to nurture and produce leaders of the future. Having our students attend high school within North America’s model sustainable community will, hopefully, inspire them to personally adopt One Planet values and, after graduation, disseminate them out into the world.
ONE PLANET CREDO: Together, Credo and One Planet are working to identify Credo as the world’s first One Planet School. This means that we will, at our SOMO Village campus, embark upon a plan to live within the One Planet sustainability standards and consciously integrate education about these standards into our existing Credo curriculum and culture—modeling how students everywhere can become the solution to our planet’s environmental challenges. We have already developed among our students a One Planet Leadership Team, which will oversee the implementation of the One Planet Principles at Credo.
Becoming the world’s first One Planet School is a huge responsibility and a tremendous opportunity for Credo High School, putting us in the world spotlight as innovators and leaders acting on behalf of a sustainable future. Please support us in this vision!
