Chip Romer

Chip Romer, Credo's Executive Director, led the Development Team that founded Credo for three years before opening the school in 2011. He has been actively involved with the Waldorf-inspired charter school movement since 1998. He was a founder and the lead developer of the K-8 Waldorf-inspired Woodland Star Charter School, founded in Sonoma in 2000. In the same year he was a founding member of the Stone Bridge School in Napa. Chip served as administrator of Woodland Star from 2002 until 2008, during which time Woodland Star became the first WASC-accredited public Waldorf school in California. He is a founder of and currently serves on the advisory board of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education. Chip served on the Member Council of the California Charter Schools Association and for over ten years has served on the boards of private and public Waldorf schools. Prior to his involvement with Waldorf education, Chip worked as a writer and editor, business entrepreneur and government economist. He earned his BA in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.

Thom Schaefer, M.Ed.

Mr. Schaefer, Credo's Education Director and English teacher, previously served as Pedagogical Dean of Faculty at the Shining Mountain Waldorf School in Boulder, CO, where he also taught high school humanities and movement. He has a strong background in both teaching and administration in public and Waldorf schools, including over twenty-five years in Waldorf high school. Mr. Schaefer brings experience and expertise in designing and delivering professional development programs for teachers and administrators; developing curricular materials and programs; and coaching teachers and mentors. His degrees and credentials include a BA and teaching credential from the University of California at Santa Cruz, Waldorf Teacher Certification from Rudolf Steiner College, certification as a movement specialist in spacial dynamics, and an MEd in Waldorf Education from Touro University. Mr. Schaefer spent two years as Curriculum Consultant to Credo’s Development Team before becoming Credo’s Education Director in 2011. He is the father of three adult children, former Waldorf students.

Andrea Akmenkalns, MA. ED

Ms. Akmenkalns, Credo's Assistant Director, became a Waldorf teacher in 2004 and comes to us from Woodland Star, where she most recently taught first through fifth grades. She has extensive school leadership experience as a founder of Live Oak Charter and a board member, finance committee member and mentor at Woodland Star. She earned her Waldorf teaching certificate from Rudolf Steiner College, her MA. Ed in Waldorf Education and teaching credential from Touro University.  She has also completed her preliminary administrative services credential from Sonoma State. Prior to her career in education, Ms. Akmenkalns worked as a manager in the software industry. 

Rebecca Aliotti

Rebecca Aliotti is Credo's Office Manager.  Prior to joining Credo's admin team, Ms. Aliotti worked in the social and finacial departments of the Council on Aging, and prior to that she was a case manager for North Bay Regional Center. She earned her BA in PSychology from Sonoma State University. She is the mother of a Credo student and a Waldorf graduate.

Jodi Boyle

Ms. Boyle is Credo's Enrollment Coordinator. Ms. Boyle earned her BA in Sociology from U.C. San Diego and her teaching credential from San Francisco State. She has previously taught as a special ed aide at Drake High School, in Close Up Civic Education in Washington, D.C., and as a middle school teacher at Davidson Middle School in San Rafael. Ms. Boyle was a founder of Live Oak Charter School and is the mother of two Waldorf students, including a Credo graduate.

Andrea Gregory

Andrea Gregory, Registrar, and previous Credo Office Manager, earned her AA degree from Santa Rosa Junior College and comes to us with 20 years of office administration experience at Sangiacomo Family Vineyards.  Ms. Gregory is the parent of a Credo student and a Credo graduate.

Janis Lynne

Janis Lynne, Credo Business Manager, has served for over seventeen years as a financial manager for several North Bay charter schools, including the Petaluma Charter School, Woodland Star Charter School and Pathways. Janis has extensive experience in managing all aspects of school finance and has worked at Credo since its inception 2011. 


Heather Topham

Heather Topham, Credo Office Assistant, is a Waldorf parent and early childhood educator who has taught at Live Oak Charter School and at Sagewood Waldorf School in Bend, Oregon. Heather has extensive office and administrative experience.
